Tenure-Track Assistant Professors (2) The Department of Mathematics at West Virginia University invites applications for two (2) full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2009. We are seeking candidates with the potential for excellence in research and the ability to establish a program of external funding who will compliment existing departmental strengths.  Special consideration will be given to candidates with specializations in Topology and Algebra and potential for collaboration with applied fields.  Candidates will be expected to contribute to the Ph.D. program as well as demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching at all levels and must have a Ph.D. in mathematics by the time of appointment. Teaching Assistant Professor The Department of Mathematics at West Virginia University invites applications for a full-time, non tenure-track position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor.  Applicants with potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level are encouraged to apply.   The successful candidate must have a doctorate in mathematics, mathematics education or a related discipline by the time of appointment. The initial term is for one-year, renewable thereafter for up to three-year terms contingent upon performance.  The teaching load is four (4) courses per semester, primarily teaching in the calculus sequence and advanced undergraduate levels, with the possibility of a one-course reduction for participation in curriculum development and other substantial support activities.
